Saturday – Creepy?

Holly profileI recently started a bit of a discussion on facebook about what I think is one of the creepiest commercials EVER.  For some reason whenever I see this series of commercials, my skin crawls.

The funny thing is that the responses were EXTREME.  EXTREME in their agreement with me about the severe creepy factor and EXTREME in their disagreement with me.

I gather from my super scientific research that you either LOVE or HATE the Prius Commercials.

    Oooo, I can see both sides. Visually and conceptually, it is brilliant. BUT there’s an apocalyptic-good-gawd-the-sun-is-gonna-crash-into-the-earth aspect that is mighty disturbing. … Or the Prius just watched “Mary Poppins” (Up to the highest height!) … or the sun is taking the Prius on its afternoon walk. Regardless it’s ultimately an effective commercial — people are talking about it. At least it doesn’t feature a song by The Fixx — http://tinyurl.com/saveby0.

    Ewwwww – it’s PEOPLE. Those are PEOPLE acting like grass, the sun, etc. That’s a little too Alice-in-Wonderland-trippy for me to feel happy…or even compelled to buy it. I mean, is my car ALSO going to be made out of people? Will there be people in the trunk? Do I have to give rides to strange costume-wearing-and-humming people? Sorry Toyota…I’m just gonna have to SAY NO.

    I like the idea of the sun taking a walk with the Prius, but it is the sun that is the creepiest of all for me so I am afraid for the car. I am probably not in the Prius demographic because my three children can’t be strapped into one out of each other’s arm reach. The link didn’t work for the Fixx.

    Totally creeps me out, and I agree with you. It makes my skin crawl!!! I don’t see anything brilliant about it, just freaky!
